About this rodeo

Vinita’s Will Rogers Memorial Rodeo is an 89th-edition PRCA tradition rooted in a promise attributed to Rogers: “Have a rodeo next year and I’ll be back.” After his death in 1935, the event went forward in his memory and has continued each August. The wider 2026 program runs Aug. 3–8, opening with steer tripping and slack before an Aug. 5 downtown parade and four themed performance nights. Kids Night, Cherokee Night, First Responders Night, and Veterans Night give each arena evening a distinct community focus. That memorial origin and civic-week format distinguish it from a conventional four-performance rodeo.
