Zia Regional Rodeo

About this rodeo

The Zia Regional Rodeo is New Mexico Gay Rodeo Association’s IGRA-sanctioned competition in Santa Fe, founded in 1991 and open to contestants pursuing points toward the IGRA World Finals. The 2026 weekend places full rodeo cards at Rodeo de Santa Fe on Saturday and Sunday, following a Friday rodeo school for newcomers. Traditional roping, barrel racing, pole bending, steer riding and bull riding share the order with gay-rodeo camp events including steer decorating, goat dressing and wild drag race. Bareback and ranch-saddle bronc are not offered this year. Dancing, lessons and an awards ceremony make the gathering broader than the arena program, while its LGBTQ+ community and inclusive Western-heritage mission remain central.
