About this rodeo
Poway Rodeo is a volunteer-rooted PRCA small-town rodeo that brings professional competition to the Poway Valley Riders Association Arena. In 2026, it offers three performances on September 25–26, including a Saturday afternoon Kids Buck Day, followed by evening after-parties. The event began in 1973 through a partnership of the riders association, Lions Club and Chamber of Commerce. It continues to emphasize Old West traditions while supporting charities in Poway and across San Diego County, fitting the city’s “City in the Country” identity. Its history includes winning the PRCA’s Best Small Rodeo award in 2000, while the inaugural rodeo served as a filming location for The Great American Cowboy.
